Yandex.Money: Welcome to America

September 16, 2013

Yandex.Money users now have the option of transferring funds from their e-wallets straight to an American bank account—personal or business. That means users can, for example, pay for hotel reservations and rental car service in advance of a vacation, or pay for courses or business services offered in the United States. Moreover, payments can be covered by funds from a Yandex.Money account or a bank card linked to an account. Either way commission is 3% plus 15 rubles.

Apart from the United States, Yandex.Money users can now send transfers to 22 countries where the service was not available before. Included in this list are China, England, France, Germany, and Spain. All in all, transfers made in dollars, euros, or local currencies are available to over 200 countries.

Yandex.Money is actively expanding its global focus, as Russian users are spending more and more money abroad. They pay for goods, services, and online games, as well as transfer money to friends and family.

According to Russia’s Central Bank, in 2012 residents spent a total of 28.5 billion dollars abroad in transfers abroad. Most of that sum went to Switzerland, China, the United States, as well as England and Germany.
