TNS Russia Studied the Popularity of E-money

TNS has conducted research on the popularity of electronic payment methods in Russia. The survey showed that many users literally take e-money wallets with them—40% of e-money users pay with it via desktop computers and mobile devices.
The research has been carried out this May. The survey's subjects were residents aged 20–44, living in cities with populations of over 700,000.
Today many Russians pay for goods and services with e-money. Almost all respondents have heard of it, 74% of the responders use it at least once a year, and almost a half of the respondents use it several times a month. The most active payees are aged 25–34.
The most popular payment types performed with e-money are online purchases, mobile carrier billing, home utilities, music, movies, games, and transfers to other users. Desktops are used for making online purchases, while smartphones and tablets are used for paying for mobile services.
Young people from 20 to 24 are the most active at paying with e-money for tickets to concerts and online content. Respondents aged 35–44 actively use e-money for mobile services and home utilities.
Yandex.Money remains to be number-one Russian payment service by the rate of awareness use. 44% of Russians aged 20–44 years used Yandex.Money for paying more than once a year. 43%—used WebMoney at least once a year, 36%—used QIWI, 35%—used PayPal.
