April 25, 2017

Yandex.Money becomes the first distributor of digital content for Nintendo Switch in Russia. The following games for this console are now available at the service’s website — The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe*, 1-2-Switch, Snipperclips: Cut it out — together. Before that, digital content for Switch could only be purchased at Nintendo eShop.

Nintendo Switch went on sale on March 3. It combines capabilities of both home and portable platforms: the console can be either plugged into a TV or used as a handheld with its own touch screen.

Yandex.Money became the official Nintendo distributor in 2014, selling games for 3DS and Wii U with exclusive discounts. Similarly, the service offers discounts for Nintendo Switch digital content — from 7% to 12% depending on the game. Users can pay for Nintendo games from Yandex.Money e-wallets, bank cards or online banking provided by major Russian banks. The content is available for purchase to users from Russia and other CIS countries, as well as to users from Turkey.

Currently, Yandex.Money website has more than 3000 digital products available for purchase — PC and console games, payment codes and other. The service plans to expand the variety of games up to 5000 units by the end of the year — including 400 games for Nintendo consoles with Virtual console games and additional downloadable content for such games as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Yandex.Money analysts predict that the volume of digital content sales via the service will increase by 80% in a year.

According to a report by SuperData, last year gamers worldwide spent about $6.6 billion on digital games for consoles. They spent even more on games for PC — $ 34 billion.

* Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is already available for purchase, but the users will get access to the game only on its launch date — 28.04.2017.
